iRobot Roomba 880 Review

Welcome, and on this video we are doing a product review for the iRobot Roomba 880.

So if you want to learn how this will clean your floors like no vacuum has ever cleaned before, then stay tuned.

Hi guys, I’m Philip English from robophil.com.

Now on this video we are looking in to the iRobot Roomba 880.

iRobot Inc., designs and builds robots that make a difference. The company was originally founded in 1990 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists with the vision of making practical robots a reality.

In 2013, iRobot generated 487 million dollar in revenue and employed more than 500 of the robot industry’s top professionals, including mechanical, electrical and software engineers and related support staff. iRobot stock trades on the NASDAQ stock market under the ticker symbol IRBT. More than 10 million home robots have been sold worldwide.

The award-winning iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaning Robot is leading the charge. Roomba made practical robots a reality for the first time and showed the world that robots are here to stay. The new Roomba 880 is the ultimate high-performance robotic vacuum cleaner. Featuring the revolutionary AeroForce Performance Cleaning System, Roomba 880 is proven to remove up TO 50% more dirt, dust, hair, debris and harmful allergens than previous Roomba generations with less maintenance hassle.

The AeroForce System uses a combination of three breakthrough technologies to deliver the ideal balance of vacuum suction and debris extraction. Ideal for homes with pets and allergy sufferers, Roomba 880 traps dirt, particulates and allergens drawing them into the sealed, HEPA-filtered bin and out of the air you breathe.

The AeroForce has three working points:

Point one: Tangle-Free AeroForce Extractors – Dual counter-rotating extractors incorporate a durable rubber thread design that grabs and breaks down dirt and debris from any floor type. And no brushes mean no tangles for you.

Point two: Airflow Accelerator – The accelerator brings the vacuum power right down to the floor surface, creating a sealed channel that concentrates the airflow, drawing in more debris.

Point three: High-Efficiency Vacuum – A compact and efficient high-powered motor provides a five times improvement in air power than previous Roomba generations.

Roomba automatically adjusts between floor types to clean carpets, tile, hardwood and laminate floors as it moves through your home. The spinning side brush cleans dirt from wall edges. Effortless cleaning – Dirt happens everyday. Keeping up with it just got easier. Docks and Recharges – Roomba returns to its Home Base todock and recharge between cleanings. Roomba can be preset to vacuum when it’s convenient for you, up to seven times per week.

The iRobot also has XLife battery. XLife battery delivers twice as many as cleaning cycles as previous Roomba batteries, doubling the time before you may need to replace your Roomba battery. Comes with the Virtual Wall Lighthouse contains Roomba in one room until it is completely vacuumed then directs Roomba to clean the next room. Can also block off-limits areas. Roomba 880 is compatible with existing Roomba Virtual Wall barriers, Virtual Wall Lighthouses and remote controls.

With the other features of the iRobot 880 is the iAdapt Responsive Navigation Technology. In coverage tests, Roomba out-cleans the competition. Thanks to iAdapt Technology! iRobot’s advanced system of software and sensors. The iAdapt enables Roomba to find its way around any shape or size of home, covering every area of floor multiple times. The robot also finds dirt and debris with dirt detect series 2. Roomba uses optical and acoustic sensors to find dirt and debris and perform concentrated cleaning in the areas where it’s needed most. So, it cleans like you.

The persistent pass cleaning method employs a back and forth cleaning pattern to apply elbow grease in areas where it senses excessive dirt. The Roomba also vacuums across the wall edges, uses wall-following technology to clean right up to wall edges and kickboards. As what we have discussed already that Roomba won’t get tangled up. Anti-tngle technology keeps Roomba from getting stuck on cords, carpet fringe and tassels. It won’t fall downstairs – Cliff-detection sensors allow Roomba to avoid stairs and other drop offs. Also, it won’t damage your furniture – It’s got the molded, soft-touch bumper cushions the contact between Roomba and your furniture, walls and other objects. It also pushes past soft obstacles – so the light touch bumper technology accurately discerns soft barriers from solid barriers, allowing Roomba to go under curtains, comforters, bed skirts and couch skirts.

And for the specifications of the robot: Robot dimensions of 52 x 12.9 x 41.9cm. The robot weight is 3.8kg. Right, so what’s in the box? You got 1 of a iRobot Roomba 880, 1 iRobot XLife battery, 2 virtual wall lighthouses (batteries included), 1 integrated home base and it also comes with 1 remote control (batteries included), 1 extra HEPA filter, 1-year manufacturer’s limited warranty on robot, 6-month manufacturer’s warranty on battery.
