Hi Guys, I’m Philip English from robophil.com, and on this video we are looking at Korea’s Smart Robot Albert, from SK Telecom, which is a South Korean wireless telecommunications company!
SK Telecom is South Korea’s largest wireless carrier, and leads the local market with 50.5 percent share since its creation in 1984. Korea boasted the highest levels of smartphone ownership in the world in 2012 and launched their Smart Robot Albert in December 2012, which is the world’s first smartphone-based education robot.
Albert is a robot integrated with analogue emotions and digitial functions.
It helps children aged 4-12 experience various educational contents and naturally master them.
Children can learn a variety of educational contents with fun through play.
Smart Robot Albert achieves this through 5 key elements:
1. Understanding Robots – Which involves Robot operation & Response, as well as Diverse Robot Sensors.
2. Understanding Stories – This is done through Storytelling and Robot sensor application response.
3. Book Reading – So Understanding Sentences, Word Learning and listening skills.
4. Albert comes with a Card Game pack – so again English words Learning and Associated words learning.
5. It also comes with Board games ( based around STEM Education):- so helps Mastering the concept of numbers, A sense of economy, Society development and Familiarizing with objects.
In regards to the coding of Albert he comes with a program call ‘Stack MINI’.
Stack Mini is a little like Lego where you can assemble and combine blocks to create your own SW application. Anyone can easily learn coding through the graphic method of dragging & dropping blocks. This way the child can enhance their concentration on learning while observing the robot’s reactions according to the input code. SK Telecom’s also works and promotes, code.org, which is non-profit organisation dedicated to expand access to computer science to the world. The Smart Phone Robot also has an Integration of analogue emotions and digital functions.
Starting with the Digital functions it has: Navigation, Bluetooth, Gyro Sensor and OID sensor.
There are many different option pack’s you can get for Smart Robot Albert but the basic pack contains:

- 1 x Touch Book
- 1 x Card Game
- 1 x Store Game
- 1 x Board Game
- You can also get the Albert App, which includes Robot control and Communication.
- And most importantly, you can get Albert Wigg’s!!
